Episode 69: Rev. Dr Jasmine Devadason for Sunday 13th November

This week on Politics in the Pulpit, Lee is chatting to Rev. Dr Jasmine Devadason.

Jasmine is currently working as a learning and development officer for the North West & Mann Region of the Methodist Church.  She served as a tutor of Hebrew Bible at the Southern Theological Education and Training Scheme, Sarum College, Salisbury, before moving to Manchester. She worked for the Diocese of Manchester as a World Mission officer and has been ordained by the diocese of Manchester.  She has completed her PhD at the University of Manchester on examining the Book of Job from a Dalit woman’s perspective. Her academic interest focuses on the Hebrew Bible, Dalit Feminist Liberation hermeneutics and the post-colonial hermeneutics.

Rev. Dr Lina Toth is Assistant Principal and Lecturer in Practical Theology at the Scottish Baptist College, UK, and Senior Research Fellow at the IBTS Centre, The Netherlands. A musician and artist as well as a theologian, she is particularly interested in ethics, spirituality, and theology of culture. She is the author of Singleness and Marriage after Christendom and Transforming the Struggles of Tamars: Single Women and Baptistic Communities. She is Senior Fellow of Higher Education Academy, Editor of Theology in Scotland journal, and Chair of the Worship and Spirituality Commission of the Baptist World Alliance.

Since 2000 he has established and led churches in the United Kingdom and the United States, served as Mission Advisor for the Birmingham District of the Methodist Church in Britain, and coached scores of practitioners renewing inherited forms of church or launching fresh expressions of church.

Rev. Ian Rutherford is the City Centre Minister based at Central Hall Manchester. Ian is committed to civic engagement and social justice and his current priorities in Greater Manchester are Homelessness and Housing, Food Security, Refugee Support, Challenging Hate Crime, Cost-of-Living Crisis Response and Climate Change. Ian is the Faith Sector Lead on Homelessness and Housing and on Food Security for Mayor Andy Burnham and is on the National Leadership Teams of both Citizens UK and Movement for Recovery.

Episode 61: Revd Phil Jump for 18th September

Phil is Regional minister for the North Western Baptist association- serving not only Baptist churches across North Wales and North west England, but committed to working with God's people across our Christian family to help us be an effective voice in our world. He writes a regular feature for Faith in Business quarterly, seeking to relate key Christian principles to the theology of work. He also chairs industrial Christian Fellowship - a charity that has been supporting Christians in business and public life. He recently co-authored and published "Love: Work” - a collection of prayers and reflections to help Christians relate their faith to everyday life.

Craig is a Baptist minister, an educator, a political lobbyist and author. He lives in South Yorkshire and is about to embark on a new venture with friends Roy Searle & Kate Pozzo. Northumbria Collective aims to help Christians to listen well, think deeply and live authentically in a world that is often interested in Jesus when he isn't mentioned in the same conversation as church.
